Eindhoven to Aachen
Second field test, reported. The weather tested us, and the load needed a medium saddle bag.
The second field test ran from Eindhoven to Aachen on 19 Sep 2026.
The departure
The first test cut rain gear to make the carry work. This time it stayed on the list. We tested whether jersey pockets and one slim half-frame bag could take the full essentials list with rain gear in it.
What we found
They could not. Everything fit only once we added a medium saddle bag, about 3 litres. The weather tested us this time: it was wet, cold and windy.
Keeping rain gear on the list was the right call for this ride. It is also what pushed the load past the pockets and the frame bag. We do not know yet how much of the overflow was rain gear and how much was the warmer layers the cold asked for.
What is next
The next field test packs the same list and weighs each piece. Then we can see what has to change for the load to fit without the medium saddle bag.
